In recommending where to purchase piano sheet music, we've taken into consideration several qualifying points. We searched for a business with a history of more than 5 years, that had simple navigation, a ton of piano sheet music selections, reliable, fast, and inexpensive shipping options, great prices, and customer support by phone and email. Suprisingly there were only a few companies that met the those standards. Any of the links presented here are presented because the met the high standards we sought out to find.
What About Free Sheet Music?
The search for a perfect free website has turned out to be a waste of time. Free piano sheet music means that it is in public domain; in other words, the copyright expired because the music was not in demand. So immediately the selections available were greatly reduced. We did happen to find sites that claimed to have recent hits. Unfortunately, the versions were either transcribed inaccurately, or they were being presented illegally. On the other hand, there are sites that allow you to print licenced music without breaking copyright law. We have not included links to digitally printed music simply out of preferance for binded materials on quality sheets.
Any Other Suggestions?
Yes, save money! You'll see that we've provided a navigatinal link (on the top-left) for coupons. Most sheet music stores provide these, and it's up to you to take advantage of them. One of my personal favorite coupon sites is Retail Me Not. They tend to have an updated list of coupons for saving money, and when a coupon code is expired, it can be reported by other shoppers who tried it. This saves you a lot of time in looking for a coupon code that actually works. Remember the store, itself, may have its own promotions going. For example, I know that Music Forte is currently offering free shipping off of any order over $35 in the US. There is no size restriction. So considering that just a few paperback compilation books can weigh over 4lbs, there is some additional money to be saved.
A Final Word
Enjoy the music! Practice can be fun, and it doesn't necesarrily matter how you practice. If this is something you want to accomplish, you'll enjoy the challenge. If you are alreay an accomplished pianist, there is always going to be new material that challenges you in theory or technique. Be sure to take a good look around. Call customer support when you have questions, and buy the music that motivates you and encourages you to perfect your skills while having a great time! Remember that playing piano can be a personal hobby. There is no reason to show the world what you can do, so if you find that performing is giving you pressure, play the music for yourself, and perform when you feel ready.
